🏗 It’s real. It’s happening. Civil Draft is now live.

It’s finally here. CIVIL DRAFT - my official Trading Card Game - has launched for pre-order and I am absolutely buzzing to show you everything.

Hello Fellow Engineers!

It’s finally here. CIVIL DRAFT - my official Trading Card Game to celebrate my 5 year anniversary of YouTube - has launched for pre-order and I am absolutely buzzing to show you everything. We're talking exclusive cards, community goals, blueprint chaos, and yes… even a Matt & Paddy combo card.

This is a preorder campaign, and it’s only running until 17th August. After that, your chances to get exclusive cards disappear like an architect when the structural calculations come out.

There will be a chance to grab extra Booshter Boxes (yes, that’s what we’re calling them now thanks to your feedback on my samples) when the game is delivered - but stock will be very limited and capped per customer. Right now, there’s no limit.

👉 Pre-order Civil Draft now to unlock stretch goals, vote on art, and maybe even trigger the wrath of Matt the Destroyer of Architects.

This issue’s loaded with nuclear tunnels, spaghetti bridges, buff engineers, and one heroic dog with a beaver to destroy.

Let’s dive into it 👇

This week, we’re giving away FIVE copies of Drill Core! 🛠️

If you enjoy drilling through alien rock, upgrading your base, and managing chaos underground (basically a Tuesday for most engineers), this game is for you. It’s resource management, strategy, and stress - all buried nicely below the surface.

And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for… 🥁

🚧 Civil Draft Is HERE! Pre-Orders Are LIVE! 🃏

It’s real. It’s happening. And I can’t believe I finally get to say this:
CIVIL DRAFT IS OUT FOR PRE-ORDER!

I’ve been sitting on this for so long, bursting to show you everything we’ve built - the cards, the jokes, the hidden Easter eggs and even some architects (for balance, obviously).

This project is a massive celebration of 5 years of chaos, engineering, and Paddy, and I’ve poured everything into making it something you will love collecting, playing, and probably arguing about in the comments.

🎁 What You Get When You Pre-Order:

Every pre-order comes with a FREE exclusive booster pack, including:

  • 🔧 1 blueprint card to start (Matt & Paddy, #100)

  • 🎯 More cards added as the community hits stretch goals

We're just a few orders away from unlocking the next community poll where you vote on which card gets a full-art upgrade. That’s right, you’re not just buying cards, you’re shaping the game itself.

🏗️ Gotta Unlock ‘Em All:

The goal is simple:

Fill the free exclusive booster pack with 7 unique cards that won’t be available in the main game.

Right now, only 1 card is unlocked - but with every pre-order, the community inches closer to unlocking more.

As each stretch goal is hit, new cards will be revealed. Some are blueprints, some are alt-arts… and some are total chaos.

Let’s see how full we can make this pack.

👉 Pre-order now to help unlock the next card - and keep an eye on the site as the booster evolves.

We’re just getting started.
I cannot wait to reveal the rest of the cards, community goals, and behind-the-scenes stuff we’ve been holding back, but only if we reach the next milestones!

What are you most looking forward to?

We’re building this together, so tell me, fellow engineers:

See you there!

👷‍♂️ Truss Me, I’m an Engineer…

Sweden’s 100,000-Year Nuclear Tupperware

While architects are busy designing buildings that leak “artistically,” Sweden’s engineers broke ground on a $1 billion nuclear waste vault that’ll stay sealed longer than your career in student loans. The Forsmark Spent Fuel Repository is being buried 500 meters deep in solid bedrock and designed to last 100,000 years, because apparently, “temporary storage” isn't good enough when you’re dealing with radioactive doom-rods.

The engineering is glorious: 66 km of tunnels, 6,000 copper canisters, and a triple-layer burial system that says “good luck escaping, uranium.” It's so secure that once it's sealed, they’re literally demolishing the surface buildings and leaving no sign it was ever there, the kind of subtlety architects have never heard of.

🤯 Engineers shake the tallest steel-framed building ever on an earthquake simulator
A 100 ft, 10‑story steel structure has just undergone real seismic forces to test its resilience. It’s like shaking a Jenga tower - only with millions of quid riding on it. Architects are probably shaking in their loafers too

This ultra-powerful laser might help advance medicine, materials science, and national security.

🌾 Stardew Valley overtakes Portal 2 as the best game of all time
In a major indie win, Stardew trumps Portal 2 after 14 years on top. A solo developer beat a Valve heavyweight, sounds like engineered perfection>architectural fluff.

🔥 Limbo & Inside leaving GOG on July 17 - grab ‘em now!
Classic puzzle-platformers Limbo and Inside are disappearing soon on GOG. If you're into eerie ambiance and clever design, now’s the time.

🛶 Spilled!: pilot a solar‑powered boat, clean polluted waterways
A tiny 8‑level game where you rescue wildlife and scrub rivers clean. An indie gem about real-world engineering in a cozy sim.

🐕‍🦺 Paddy’s Corner

Paddy and the beaver!

And if you need a break from radioactive tunnels and architect slander, watch my apprentice engineer, Paddy, absolutely demolish a “tough” beaver toy like it owed him rent.

👾 Indie Game of the Week: Now Featuring Me (And My Muscles)

This week’s indie pick features my glorious return as a playable character, with enough muscle to make even architects question their life choices. You can now catapult potatoes, build overly complicated bridges, and climb like a jacked monkey in “the most realistic civil engineer sim” to date.

👷‍♂️ Watch me flex my engineering skills (and quads) below:

It’s time for a Bridge Review!

If spaghetti and a roundabout had a baby and it studied structural engineering, you’d get the Kawazu-Nanadaru Loop Bridge. Located in the mountains of Shizuoka, Japan, this beauty doesn’t just connect two points, it spirals them together with a double-loop design that’s part rollercoaster, part “hold onto your steering wheel.”

Why the loops? Because the terrain’s too steep for a straight descent and, more importantly, engineers love an excuse to flex their geometric muscles. Two massive concrete helices bring drivers down safely with a steady gradient.

Sure, it’s not the prettiest bridge, but let’s be honest: it’s a glorious monument to problem-solving, not posing for an Instagram aesthetic. And most importantly, there’s no architect in sight, which explains why it actually works.

Score: 8.7/10
